Project Centenary

In November of 2020, Qantas celebrated 100 years of taking Australians to the sky – and to commemorate this historic milestone, a number of exciting initiatives were set to be released throughout the 12 months that followed.

To house these releases, an immersive portal site was required ahead of the 2020 campaign launch event, and unveiling of the 100-year plane livery – held at a Qantas hangar in Mascot, Sydney Airport.

Selected as the lead UI / Visual Designer in a confidential project-specific squad, I conceptualised and formulated a ‘single’ universal responsive component that had the capacity to manage all content across several pages, whilst being both scalable and manageable by authors. As a result, we as a team were able to comfortably deliver a site to meet the uncompromising launch date.

1 component to rule them all.

Formulating the universal component from an initial idea required extensive drafting of the tile variations and its contained content across all the possible ratios, responsive breakpoints, and viewports to identify the problematic areas.

Once this was realised, I could then adopt solutions, specifications, and guidelines for optimal display across all devices – with the addition of the driving UI elements.

Flight Offers

‘Sale’ flights are a high revenue earner for Qantas – so the customer must be presented with a smooth experience that details clear and accurate offer information without discrepancy (and, just the right amount of inspirational enticement to influence conversion).

With an outdated and uninspiring design that had a handful of UX concerns (potentially contributing to the high abandonment rate), it was the task of a UX lead and myself to identify and resolve the issues through extensive design iterations, prototyping, and customer testing, to successfully deliver an improvement to customer experience and business return.

Title: Senior UI / UX Designer

Over a two-year engagement, I was involved in multiple projects across Qantas. These required creative conceptual to high-fidelity user interface, and experience design solutions across all viewports, coupled with the daily exercise of project team liaison and development.
